jealousy

jealousy makes things complicated, especially when it involves someone you're interested in.  But I guess that's life.

School Group work

I hate group work for school assignments.  Today, this angry group member felt the need to call me up and bitch me out about why didn't I gather up the group and organize stuff.  I didn't do it because it is not my responsibility, it is supposed to be a group effort.  The whole time she was bitching on the phone, I just didn't care and told her yeah, okay, yup, uhhuh.  That made her more mad.  Seriously, it is not my problem so don't call me out on it.  It is a group problem.

forgot about xanga

Wow, life has been sooooo busy lately.  I totally forgot about xanga.

In my last semester at HPU and I'm working hard to stay afloat with 30 hour work weeks and 18 credits.  Life has been busy but good.  I've been going to a lot of lunches lately with older business professionals who I am friends with.  I've been talking to them about life after graduation.  By all and any means, I want to live and work in Japan for at least a year.  My friends who I've been going to lunch with all are or have worked with Japanese companies so I am just getting some good guidance from them.

On another note, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow.  I also am going for a haircut at Terra on Friday.  Then it is the weekend.

vent blog

So this past weekend, my good friend's family is visiting from Japan for his graduation ceremony today.

Every time I go to Japan, I stay with this friend named Tomo.  I have known him for about two years now and we have hungout at school and starbucks about 4 days a week since summer.  We always go golfing and eat dinner  some place.  Long story short, we are pretty good buddies, so when I found out his family was visiting, I really wanted to help them.

On Saturday, I picked up my friend from is his apartment in Downtown, drove to Waikiki to pick up his sister and 3 cousins.  I then drove them to Waimea Bay to go to the beach (1 hour away).  Because we went later, there was no parking, but I just dropped them off and told them I would come back to pick them up in 1.5 hours.  I them drove to my auntie's house who lives near Waimea Bay and I just waited for time to pass.  After they were done swimming, I picked them up and drove another 30 minutes away to Kahuku to eat garlic shrimp.  Then I drove all of them back to their hotel in Waikiki, a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes with traffic.  We all went to dinner and I drove back home which was another 30 minutes away.

On Sunday, I drove back to town to pick up Tomo and drove to Waikiki.  We ate breakfast at the hotel with his family because the weather was pouring rain.  Instead of going to the beach again, I suggested that we just go shopping at Ala moana since his mom, grandma, sister, and cousins are all girls.  So i drove them to Ala Moana shopping center.  After I dropped them off, Tomo and I just waited at a small coffee shop for them to finish.  The grandma realized that she had forgot something at the hotel so Tomo said he would catch a cab back to go and get it.  After he left, Tomo's mom found me and told me how much she appreciated me helping them and taking them all around.  She wanted to give me money for gas and parking but I insisted that I cannot accept the money because Tomo is my good friend and they always give me a place to stay when I visit Japan.  After about 3 minutes of trying to refuse and break away, she wouldn't let me leave without giving me a $50 bill.  I humbly accepted it, although I kept on saying that I don't need it and it was unnecessary.  She also told me not to mention it to Tomo because he might get mad.

After that whole ordeal, Tomo calls me up because he can't find a cab.  I told him I would take him back to the hotel so he can get his grandma's things.  Right before we arrive at the hotel, Tomo asks me if his mom gave me money.  Even though I told his mom I wouldn't tell him, I didn't want to lie to my friend, So I told him yes, but I tried my best to refuse, but she wouldn't allow me to.  I then drop him off a the hotel and wait 10 minutes for him.  When he gets back in the car here is how the conversation went...

Me:  Are you okay?

Tomo: No

Me: why? are you mad at the money?

Tomo: Yeah.

Me: Can I give it back to you to give to her?

I pull out my wallet and give him back the $50 bill.

Me:  I really didn't want it, but your mom refused to let me go without taking it.

Tomo: Then why did you take it?

Me:  Tomo, are you mad at me?

Tomo:  ....

Me:  Tomo are you mad at me?...............Are you serious?........ seriously?.......

Tomo:....... ........ just drop me off here.

I tried calling him a few hours later, but he didn't answer.

Today is the graduation ceremony.  My parents and I are supposed to go to give him a lei and a card.

Seriously....wtf?

JET

I just got back from the Honolulu International Airport Post Office.  I went there to express mail my 2011 JET application.  Now I will wait for the months to pass and receive a letter of acceptance or rejection.  Am I excited?  At first, I was really anxious to finalize my application.  As time went on, I realized that I want to work in Hiroshima.  My close friend, Tomo, is going to graduate this semester and pursue a career with a company in Hiroshima.  I too now want to work in Hiroshima.  I began researching Language Teacher positions with companies in Hiroshima.  This resulted in mixed emotions of my Japan Exchange Teaching application submission.  With the JET program, I do not have a preference of work location.
